Before you buy a new computer, I suggest that you ask yourself a few important questions about the way you will be using your new machine. The answers to these questions will help you to choose the computer best adapted to your needs.
How will you be using it?
The way you use a computer will determine the importance of various functionality of the machine. If you wish to use a computer for watching videos and listening to music, be sure to choose a computer with a large screen and good sound functions. On the other hand, if you are more interested in video games, you are going to need one with a powerful graphics card and a solid processor. Finally, if you are going to use your computer primarily for word processing and surfing on the internet, you can opt for the most basic models which should fully meet your requisites.![lenovo-ideacentre-c300-atom-all-in-one-desktop-pc[1]](http://athomepc.brightsparkprint.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/lenovo-ideacentre-c300-atom-all-in-one-desktop-pc1-270x270.jpg)

Desktop,Laptop,Netbook,Touchscreen or Tablet?
Will your computer always stay in the same place or will you also be needing it when you travel? For the first option, you can choose a desktop, a less expensive machine than the laptop and with the same functionality. A desktop is also easier to use and more ergonomic than a laptop due to the adjustable level of the keyboard and the adapted height of the screen. On the other hand, if you do travel often and need to take your computer with you, a laptop, netbook or Tablet would be the wiser choice. As computer components become smaller and smaller, the laptop’s capacity has increased and can fully perform as well as a traditional desktop can.
Also in the mix this year is the introduction of Touch, either on large desktop replacement All in Ones or a Tablet PC.
Light, or extra-light?
Note that a new line of super light computers, netbooks & tablets has recently appeared on the market. For these models, manufacturers have reduced even further the size and the weight. These new models are extremely easy to carry around and can almost fit into a pocket. These light-weight machines are a great new fad but their size does limit certain utilities such as graphics design and gaming.Tablet PC’s like the Apple Ipad or our best selling Android based Acer Iconia or EEpad Transformer which are able to view Flash based content have larger capacity,GPS,better cameras and are cheaper than the basic Ipad & most important don’t require Itunes to load content onto the unit!
In a store, or via the internet?
Before buying a computer either in a store or on a specialized web-site, take some time to compare prices and offers and service levels.
I suggest that you do go to a store to try the computer you have in mind. Test its performance, use the keyboard and the mouse, and test the weight. This is a good way to ensure that the computer you purchase is really the one you want.
And remember as an independent retailer we have better knowledge of our products and offer one to one service levels and support.
We have an increasing number of customers buying from Supermarkets, large superstores and online, thinking they are getting a better deal only to find out that the sytem they have purchased does not do what they expect it to or does not come with Internet security or Basics like Microsoft Word and Excel as all of our machines do.
Worst of all what do they do if it goes faulty,if they bought it online, they have to phone a call centre usually on 0870 number wait a few days parcel it up wait for a courier.
Purchase a unit from us and if you have a problem you bring it back to us and we deal with it,we have a dedicated Service Department where most software issues are dealt with SAMEDAY or we will deal with the manufacturer on your behalf and take away the stress of getting your machine back to health.
In the main we deal with Acer,Asus,Samsung & Dell and have chosen these suppliers for the reliability which is one of the reasons why we don’t stock HP because of their inherent unreliablity.
